March 23, 1965: Virgil “Gus” Grissom and John Young launch the first manned Gemini mission, GT-3 on a spacecraft named Molly Brown. The mission lasted almost five hours and demonstrated manned orbital flight. It also demonstrated controlled reentry and landing.
